The Takeaway:  One of the classic courses of the Pacific Northwest and Spokane’s flagship municipal track. Huge pine trees and large elevation changes throughout create a dramatic setting for golf and reward the player that can work the ball. One of the great value courses in the west and a must-play when anywhere near Spokane.  Grade B-

What to Expect:  Indian Canyon is Spokane’s darling course. A favorite muni among the locals and visitors alike, patrons revere Indian Canyon due to the mature layout that boasts towering pine trees, classic architecture, strong elevation changes, and impressive views. From the clubhouse, 1st and 10th tees, views of Spokane valley are abundant and iconic at this course that Bing Crosby was known to visit. At one time the course employed GPS carts but they were later abandoned due to the interference the massive trees found throughout the property created. The course is short by today’s standards, but there is still teeth in the track due to the sloping fairways and demanding nature or working your ball through some of the narrow fairways and on the old school greens. There are no water hazards found on the course and it is a challenging walk due to the number and degree of elevation changes. Located near to the airport, Indian Canyon is an excellent option for a quick round before or after a flight. In the battle of Spokane munis between Indian Canyon and The Creek at Qualchan, Indian Canyon will win over the old-school classic crowd while Qualchan will prevail with players that prefer newer layouts with more dramatic shots.
